The Cirque du Soleil created a seasonal show called Wintuk, which was named by combining the English word "winter" with Inupiaq phonetics. From 2007 to 2011, the show was performed for ten weeks each winter holiday season at the former WaMu Theater, now known as the Hulu Theater, in New York's entertainment complex, Madison Square Garden.

The storyline of Wintuk revolves around a young boy named Jamie who lives in a city where winter has arrived, but there is no snow. Jamie sets out on a quest to discover the reason behind it and meets several characters, including urban street performers, giant dogs, talking marionettes, Wimpy, Shadowgirl, and a lost Shaman. The adventure takes the characters to Wintuk, an imaginary arctic world with no sunlight.
