The Masquerade Show in the Sky was launched in February of 1997 and presented in the Masquerade Village of the resort. The extravagant $25 million performance featured performers in costumes, who traveled on floats along a 950-foot track situated 13 feet above the casino floor. These magnificent floats resembled showboats and gondolas, each weighing between 13,000 and 17,000 pounds and moving at a leisurely pace of three feet per second. The Masquerade Show in the Sky was comprised of three unique shows, with a fourth added in 1998. The show was free for spectators, while visitors also had the option to pay for the chance to ride on the floats. The attraction’s whimsical neon showboats and gondolas have remained relatively unchanged since the carnival ride opened.
