Cirque du Soleil's Corteo broke the company's record for highest number of spectators within a month of its debut. Over 200,000 people attended the event in Montreal, Canada on April 21, 2005, surpassing Varekai's previous record of 180,000 tickets sold during its premiere. The final performance under the big top was held in Quito, Ecuador on December 13, 2015.

In Italian, "corteo" means "cortege," and this festive parade created by a clown is a unique production that combines the passion of actors with the grace and power of acrobats. Corteo transports the audience into a world of comedy, spontaneity, and fun, set in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

However, on November 20, 2017, Cirque du Soleil announced that Corteo would be brought back in the arena format. The re-staged show premiered on March 2, 2018, in New Orleans. The clown envisions his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, making for a truly unforgettable experience.
